Motivation for award: Woodbury Tented Camp is a secluded bush camp that combines an intimacy in nature with comfort and style. Each tent is elevated on a wooden platform, offering great views of the surrounding Amakhala Game Reserve. The tents are connected to the dining room, swimming pools and outdoor boma by stone pathways that wind through the indigenous bush, taking after a camping tradition that extends back generations. The staff at Woodbury Tented Camp take pride in providing personalised care and attention to detail. During the morning and afternoon game drives, our professional field guides will share their passion for the bush and go out of their way to introduce visitors to the wide variety of fauna and flora of the Eastern Cape bushveld. “Everything was just an experience! Very friendly (almost family) staff. Every safari in itself was a highlight! There were endless things to discover and learn. Our guide had an excellent eye for the area, which taught us many amazing things about fauna & flora.” – Philipp, Netherlands, May 2022

Woodbury Tented Camp – Amakhala Game Reserve

Glamping in style

One of the hidden jewels of the Eastern Cape, Woodbury Tented Camp is is a 3-star tented camp on the malaria-free Amakhala Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. This intimate, family-run camp is tucked into a forested hillside overlooking the ancient floodplain of the Bushman’s River, providing an authentic and personalized African safari experience.

Woodbury Tented Camp consists of ten comfortable en-suite tents on raised bases, each with its own private deck. Each tent has king-size or twin beds at your request, along with hot water, electricity, and all the amenities required to make your stay comfortable.

Camp life is centered around the thatch and canvas dining and lounge area, with it’s expansive deck overlooking the Woodbury plains and waterhole. A wide variety of wildlife such as zebra, giraffe, buffalo and elephant are often seen from this vantage point, while the haunting call of the African Fish Eagle echoes across the valley.
