What a well-deserved nomination! I first heard about #TravelChatSA 7 years ago when I started working in the travel industry as a junior marketing assistant. What an absolute BLESSING the hour-long live chat was… and still is! I never missed an opportunity to engage in the weeks’ chat! It gave me the opportunity to expand my industry knowledge, network with influencers (and brands) that otherwise would’ve been near-impossible for me to build a rapport with. It presented countless opportunities for collaboration, and was the ultimate springboard of confidence I needed in a new industry I knew nothing about. Looking back, it proved to be the most valuable resource for me finding my feet in the busy industry. It levelled out the playing field by bringing everybody together with one common goal: a love for South Africa and exploring it! #TravelChatSA deserves to ultimately take this award, because it has linked the right platform, community, and purpose to create something ever-fresh, and truly valuable; a sense of community in the South African tourism industry.
