Tousca is the first and only South African travel technology designed and built as an aggregator for the ground transport industry. Our platform enables South African shuttle providers to gain an online presence and provides them with exposure to travel markets they would struggle to obtain as independent operators. The platform provides a back end management tool for operators and is accessed by travel bookers either via a browser or our API. The business model is based on a transaction fee for confirmed bookings and a subscription for those operators wanting to use the management tool. Our aim is to become the largest ground transport aggregator for Africa, to create sustainable jobs in tourism while crafting a fair-trade marketplace for African operators.
Motivation for award: We have entered under innovation experiences as there is no doubt that Tousca is a new innovation to the South African tourism industry and in particular that of ground transport which is considered an experience albeit not in line with wine tasting or a city walk. We are simplifying the booking process for travel bookers, giving them a platform to source, compare and book approved shuttle operators in under 90 seconds, and giving shuttle operators an innovative technology to improve efficiencies, cut costs and enable the operator for growth.
