Situated along the malaria-free Sunshine Coast of the Eastern Cape, Sibuya Game Reserve qualifies as one of South Africa’s most unique safari and eco-destinations. A subtropical coastal paradise spanning across undulating ridges and nestled among ancient river valleys, Sibuya harbours a unique and thriving African wilderness abounding with furry and feathered inhabitants including the Big5.
Guests are welcomed at Sibuya’s reception situated near the Kariega River mouth in the small seaside town of Kenton-on-Sea. The adventure starts with a gentle meandering 11km boat transfer from the river mouth and Kenton’s idyllic Blue Flag beaches, up the stunning Kariega River Estuary into Sibuya, setting the tone for the unique experiences to follow – from the ocean to the bush.
The nature of Sibuya’s unique lodges reflect their dedication to an authentic African wilderness. Here guests are either based at one of the two solar-powered, secluded luxury eco-tented camps tucked away in the forest on the banks of the Kariega River or at stunning Bush Lodge situated in a pristine, densely forested valley.
Motivation for award: Unique experience because of access only by boat from the estuary
Region: Eastern Cape / Sunshine coast

Came here in 2019 and loved it so much I booked again. Due to the pandemic haven’t been but will be there later this year. The whole experience is fantastic the people, the place the animals and nothing is too much trouble. The best place I have visited

It is truly a unique experience to leave your vehicle together with your everyday concerns in the car park. With every bend in the river one feels more at one with the beautiful natural surroundings of the Sibuya Reserve.
