Motivation for award: Mkuze Falls Private Game Reserve (MF) is uniquely positioned overlooking a waterfall and is situated within a Big 5 Game Reserve spanning in excess of 7000 hectares. It provides luxury accommodation (5 star) in 9 beautifully appointed chalets with private en-suite bathrooms, outside showers, private plunge pool and impressive views atop a ridge overlooking the waterfall and the mountains beyond. Main areas are well crafted and laid out to maximise views whilst ensuring guest comfort and relaxation areas including a pool, bar area, lounge, dining area and boma. MF provides morning and evening open game viewing activities, bush walks as well as fine dining. Situated in the heart of Zululand in KwaZulu-Natal, Mkuze Falls Private Game Reserve is one of only two Private Game Reserves in the region where you can view the ‘Big 5’ as well as nearly 430 species of birds are resident. Overlooking the Mkuze Waterfall, the lodge features 8 Luxurious Thatched Suites and 1 Safari Suite, accommodating guests in utmost comfort and style.

Guests are invited to join the open vehicle safaris with experienced field guides and rangers who also conduct bird, bush and game walks on request. Enjoy two game drives daily in this Private Big Five Reserve, one in the early morning where our visitors will meet for coffee and tea before going out on an adventure, returning for a scrumptious breakfast. In the afternoon high tea is served in the lounge area, which boasts an array of delightful and delectable treats, after which you are invited to join the afternoon drive.
