I had a wonderful stay at Garden Route. I visited during COVID and still had such a wonderful time. The lodging at my chalet was superb very comfortable bed, outdoor tub, private deck to enjoy watching wildlife during the daytime and gaze at the stars in the evening. The meals were coursed dinners that were all delicious in a dining area that gave you and outdoor and indoor feeling. Ashley was a very informative tour guide and I looked forward to seeing the wildlife. I would highly recommend Garden Route Game Lodge.

We have been going the the Garden route game lodge since they fist opened more than 20 years ago. Our fist visit was with our then toddler. She has recently had the privilege of celebrating her wedding anniversary there as we have on a few occasions over the years. Her first comment on returning was we want to go again and take J ( their 3 year old son) as he would love it so much!! The resort caters for children in many ways from family friendly tours as well as a swimming pool, kids activities etc. I can really recommend it as a suitable destination and look forward to going there again myself in the near future.

My whole family and parents stayed for a week in your outstanding game reserve in 2012. We have photos decorating our walls of this trip and still consider it one of the best family vacations ever. We got to feed the elephants, interact with a family of giraffes as the towered over our jeep, meet the cheetah babies, watch a lioness “play” with a springbok before she stalked us – it was a fascinating, educational, and exhilarating experience.

A common misconception about South African game lodges is that they’re too expensive for locals to afford. While this might be true for some, there are quite a few affordable safari lodges in South Africa and the Garden Route Game Lodge located between Albertinia and Mossel Bay is most certainly one of them. We visited them 2 years ago for a weekend getaway with our 3-year old boy and a memorable time was had. Even though it can be challenging traveling to a 4-star game lodge with a toddler, I have to make special mention of the super friendly and helpful staff who went out of their way to make our stay as stress-free as possible.

The facilities cater for children of all ages and the staff are welcoming and easy to approach with questions.,I never hesitate to recommend the safaris and day visitor options to friends, family and guests at villa palmera in mossel bay. Their operation is a Jewel in the garden route and we wish them every success in the future.

Excellent facilities, welcoming and friendly staff, delicious meals and good game viewing. My first visit was in 2011 and since then I had been back a few times. It is wonderful to see how they have upgraded their accommodation and other facilities. An affordable experience for a family. I once stayed at the Garden Route Game Lodge with my family and the experience was amazing. Coming from the Training Side of the Hospitality Industry is the Customer Service and Product Knowledge key. From arriving at the lodge, all staff was friendly, professional, and well trained, but the game ranger was the best. His knowledge of the animals was amazing and very impressive. It’s not always to say that you will find the animals at the normal spots of the drive, but this guide in particulate entertained us on all the other wildlife on the lodge. His brought knowledge of all animals was really impressive. I still refer guests to the Garden Route Game Lodge and although we visited the lodge in 2009, the amazing impression that the Game ranger made on us is still well remembered. I believe that your staff and the knowledge of your staff is representing your company. The surroundings can be so beautiful but if the experience is not good, bad memory is created. It’s been a couple of weeks since we visited GRGL for a few nights. Whilst we were a tad concerned that it would feel like an enlarged Zoo, we were delighted to see that the guides and staff at the Lodge do everything they can to make the life’s of the animals as close to nature as possible. The guides are patient above and beyond and explain every question one may have and we do hope that more farmers are willing to sell their land to the lodge ;-) For us, this was one of the highlights of our travels and we fully enjoyed the pampering and care we’ve experienced. Whether it’s 5 out of 5 or 4 out of 4 doesn’t matter too much – I personally think it’s a plus for the lodge that Leopard’s aren’t guaranteed, as this simply translates to them not being showcased, but left to dwell as they are. Which again stands for how the guides care about their inhabitants. All in all, a great experience and very recommendable.

I love the fact that I can visit the “bush” so close to home. I even named the baby Rhino when I spotted it first last year in June! The food is wonderful and I love the separate rondavels overlooking bushveld!

The Garden Game Lodge is a true gem in the heart of the beautiful Garden Route. Their accommodation is amazing, food brilliant and their facilities including their game drives are fantastic. I recommend the Garden Route Game Lodge to everyone who asks me where they stay at a game lodge in South Africa that has really good offers for local South Africans. I even recommend then to my international guests. My husband and I renewed our wedding vows there last year on our 31th wedding anniversary, after a failed attempt to travel to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary the year before due to Covid. And we both said we really didn’t need to go far from home to celebrate this milestone in style. A lovely break from reality whether it be just for a scrumptious meal or a luxury weekend away, surrounded by nature’s beauty and peace and quiet.

Garden Route Game Lodge was the first place me and my daughter visited when the Lockdown Restrictions were opened for travel in August 2020 and we have since made extensive use of their very reasonable SA Resident Specials to date. They had strict Covid Protocols in place which made it safe for everyone to enjoy throughout the pandemic. Their whole team are friendly and accommodating and go out their way to make your stay memorable and special. We are so blessed to have them so close by as we live in Stilbaai. They are so conveniently situated on the N2 to just spontaniously pop in for a lunch during the week or on a Sunday whilst overlooking the reserve or a 1 night stay on route to or from a shopping outing in a nearby town. Their game drives are a must and we have experienced some of the best Cheeta sightings everytime we visited. I have always recommend GGL to people I have come across that travels through the Garden Route as it is a must to visit.
