Motivation for award: We always try and keep up with the latest trends that people are looking for. We endeavor to make the guests’ stay more comfortable and convenient, by having a self-check-in service with key lockboxes. We have decided to install the key lockboxes, to make it easier for guests coming back late from a wedding or the airport. We have also installed water-saving showerheads and solar geysers. After the load-shedding that our country experienced recently, we have also installed automatic lights that go on as soon as the power goes out and thereby not leaving our guests in the dark. We are promoting the local industries i.e honey from the local Honey Factory, olive oil and olives from Oakhurst Olives in Tulbagh, rusks & chili sauce from our neighboring Hillbilly Farm. We provide their products for our guests to purchase in the cottages. We believe to try and keep the guests in our area for as long as possible, so we have a well-detailed room folder with maps of all the nearby towns, such as Wolseley, Ceres, Tulbagh, the Breede Valley, and Worcester. We also offer a “Best for the Guest” discount system that our guests can enjoy when visiting the area, such as discounts from Ceres Zipline, Horse About, local restaurants, and more. We’ve won numerous awards in the last two years of being open. • We’ve won the provincial and national Lilizela Tourism Award in 2017 for the Best 3-star Self- Catering Exclusive Accommodation establishment. This has increased awareness of our business and region and already we have seen an increase in our bookings since then. • In 2018 we won the runner-up Mayoral Award for service excellence and we hope that we’ll receive another award this year. • We have also won the provincial 2018 Provincial Lilizela Tourism Award again. • We were awarded the winner of our region on Booking.com for maintaining an overall rating of 9.5/10 in 2017 & 2018. • 2018 Certificate of Excellence Award from Tripadvisor and Afristay. • We won the Service Excellence award for the best S/C Accommodation in the CWD Mayoral Award Ceremony. • We were a finalist in the 2019 Provincial Lilizela Tourism Awards.
