Motivation for award: The Baviaans Camino is a unique experience where hikers and horse riders share the same route. A large portion of the route is part of the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Reserve, a Unesco World Heritage Site. Accommodation is in old farm houses and the local farmers also supplies the food.
Region: Eastern Cape / Kouga
The Baviaans Camino is a 95km multiday hike over the Baviaanskloof and Kouga Mountains, which can be done on horseback too.
It is offered on set dates, guided, catered for with luggage transfers.
The Baviaans Camino won the National Lilizela Award for Best Visitors Experience.
