Motivation for award: At Bateleur, we love to expose the magic of a real African safari to our guests and always keep our ecological footprint top-of-mind. The camp is completely off the grid, and every effort is made to try and keep operations as green as possible ie. no plastic water bottles are stocked, we grow our own veggies and use eco-friendly cleaning products. In addition, a degree of flexbility to the daily schedule encourages guests to accept the magic that each day brings, without any expectation. We remind guests how the concepts of “simple and uncomplicated” are so needed in people’s lives right now and we love it when guests leave as friends – and keep coming back each year!

Bateleur Safari Camp offers an authentic South African safari experience, flexible, experiential schedules in a Big 5 area, spacious eco-friendly accommodation and unpretentious comfort.
The camp’s highly motivated and well trained staff are on hand, to help create unforgettable memories and make guests feel right at home. Guests can enjoy walks (the big 5 can be tracked on foot if suitable tracks can be located) and informative game drives.

We went to Bateleur in 2019 and had a trip of a lifetime!!! Went on to other locations after in our trip and absolutely none stood up to the amazing standard set at Bateleur. The facilities are gorgeous but what really stands out is the education we left with !! Thank you to all the Bateleur staff and we can’t wait to come back.
